England's Sheridan Leaves World Cup Camp

England prop Andrew Sheridan admits he's suffered a "big blow" and doesn't know when he'll be fit to play again after being told he'll miss the rest of the Rugby World Cup with a shoulder injury.

Sheridan had battled back from reconstructive surgery on his right shoulder to make the squad.

He was hurt again during Saturday's opening win over Argentina and is now heading home.

Asked if the lay-off was the worst he's had, Sheridan told Sky: "Yes, it's a big blow to leave a World Cup through injury.

"But it's a significant injury to the shoulder so I'll heave to deal with it and get on with it."

The 31-year-old - who plays for Sale - doesn't yet know whether he'll need more surgery, saying: "I have to wait until I get back home and see the surgeon - I am quite well-acquainted with him now."

England are waiting for the tournament's organisers to officially ratify Sheridan's exit before naming a replacement.
