Family Vigil As Robin Gibb Fights For Life

Town To Say Farewell To Bee Gee Robin Gibb

Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb is fighting for his life in a coma, his official website says.

The 62-year-old star has been battling colon and liver cancer and was in remission but he has now developed pneumonia.

He is being treated at a private hospital in Chelsea, west London, where his wife Dwina, brother Barry and three children have been at his bedside.

A message on his website read: "We are all hoping and praying that he will pull through. Because of this situation Robin's website is temporarily unavailable. Sorry for any inconvenience."

Gibb missed the premiere of his debut classical work earlier this week when he was due to attend The Titanic Requiem concert.

He had even been aiming to perform the song Don't Cry Alone.

His son RJ Gibb, with whom he created the work, told the audience at Westminster City Hall: "Unfortunately my father is still in hospital and is unable to be here this evening.

"He sends all his love. We are all praying for him and hoping he has a speedy recovery."

Last month the star underwent surgery for an on-going problem with a twisted bowel.

The same hereditary intestinal condition led to the death of his twin brother Maurice at the age of 53.

In October he was pictured looking gaunt and frail as he appeared on ITV's Alan Titchmarsh show.

At the same time, Gibb cancelled a meeting with the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street to talk about 2011's official Poppy Appeal song.
