Furry FaceTime: Pampered pets can now webchat worried owners from anywhere in the world

We all love to chat to our friends in person, by phone or via social media.

But our pets?

Well, if that is what you want to do, a new type of videophone has hit the market which lets you do just that.

PetChatz is the first-ever videophone that lets pet owners greet and treat their pampered pets at any time from anywhere in the world.

The innovation, for the most devoted pet parents, lets owners check-in and greet their pet through a two-way colour camera.

This works by owners mounting the device over any electrical outlet in their home. Through a Wi-Fi connection, you can then connect to it by logging onto the PetChatz website or downloading the app, and you can start speaking to your pets from anywhere, anytime.

A special ringtone, a specific tone that your pet can associate with you, lets them know that you’re calling, and the innovation also dispenses natural PetChatz treats, discharges a soothing scent and records the animals antics, letting owners share videos of their pets reactions.

PetChatz is based in Minnesota U.S.A and was founded by businesswoman Lisa Lavin.

Lisa said: "Pet parents say hello, share their smile, dispense snacks and scents, and record and share videos.

"It's an innovative communication system designed to allow people to interact with your cats and dogs from anywhere in the world - using their computers or smart phones."

The innovation comes with a temporary wall mount which means owners can speak to their pets when they have been taken to the vet, in a kennel and even a pet-friendly hotel.

Up to two videos of the animals can be recorded and shared through social media.

However, being able to call your cat comes at a price - of $349 (£213).

The device is currently only available for customers in the U.S. and Canada, and only specifically designed PetChatz treats can be used.
