Huhne Quizzed Again Over Speeding Claims

Essex Police have re-interviewed Energy Secretary Chris Huhne and his estranged wife Vicky Pryce over speeding allegations, sources have said.

The allegations revolve around a claim that Mr Huhne made his ex-wife take speeding points for him in March 2003 so he could escape a speeding ban.

Essex Police said they are preparing a file to be sent to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The pair were questioned after police obtained a court order to take possession of a tape recording in which the former couple apparently discuss the case.

The recording was obtained by The Sunday Times in May and features a conversation between the Lib Dem MP and Ms Pryce.

According to a report in the paper last month, they had been ordered to hand over the tape to Essex Police, but said they were considering an appeal.

The couple were first interviewed by detectives in May over the claims.

Images of Ms Pryce's driving licence have emerged, which indicate she received points for an offence in the Essex area on the date in question.

But she is believed to have told police she was in fact at an event in London, and Mr Huhne was behind the wheel.

Mr Huhne denies the allegations.

Both Prime Minister David Cameron and his deputy Nick Clegg have said there is no reason for him to resign.
