Man Crushed To Death At Docks, A Second Hurt
A man has died and another has been left with serious injuries after apparently being crushed by a floating pontoon at docks in Suffolk.
Emergency services were called to Ipswich docks just before 6pm after a report that two men were being crushed by what appeared to be a section of floating pontoon, Suffolk Police said.
A spokeswoman said police, the fire service and ambulance service attended.
"A man has been declared deceased at the scene and a second man has been taken to Ipswich Hospital with serious injuries.
"The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and police will be carrying out a joint inquiry with the HSE to establish what has happened."
The accident happened at Cliff Road, Ipswich, police said.
A spokesman for East of England Ambulance Service said two ambulances and a fast response car were called to the scene at 5.57pm.
