Murder Trial Mum 'Faking Mental Illness'

Mother Guilty Of Smothering Kids To Hurt Ex

A mother on trial for the murder of her two young children has been accused of pretending to be mentally ill.

An expert told jurors that Fiona Donnison was "100% likely to be feigning" psychological problems.

Dr Sanya Krljes was one of two psychologists who examined Donnison following her arrest.

Dr Krljes told the court: "The test indicated that she was feigning mental and cognitive impairment and therefore her report is considered to be unreliable."

The psychologist also said there was a "clear discrepancy" in how the accused behaved in front of her and nursing staff.

However Dr Krljes' evidence is in contrast to the conclusions of a second report from a Dr Amory Clarke who believed Donnison was not faking illness.

The 45-year-old was charged with murder after she walked into a police station in January last year and told officers she had murdered her children.

The bodies of three-year-old Elise and two-year-old Harry were then found in holdalls in the boot of Donnison's car.

The prosecution allege the former city worker murdered the children in order to hurt their father, after their relationship ended.

Fiona Donnison denies both charges of murder and the court has been told she was suffering from depression at the time of the killings.
