Reg Traviss: 'Work Helped With Amy Grief'

Amy Winehouse's boyfriend Reg Traviss has told Sky News that he's throwing himself into his work to help cope with his grief.

"I am keeping busy which is good. I took six weeks off and dropped everything (when Amy died). I'm just kind of getting back into work now."

The film director, who is currently promoting his new prison-drama Screwed, added: "It is bad timing to say the least.

"Obviously my obligations to promote the film were well in place a year ago but it is still very strange to be here doing press and talking about the film."

Traviss is involved in The Amy Winehouse Foundation that her father Mitch set up following her death.

"Mitch is very much at the forefront," he said.

"He felt instantly that something positive must come out of this.

"It will hopefully help young people with problems and those who maybe want to get into the music business."

His film Screwed is based on an autobiographical book by former prison officer Ronnie Thompson and stars James D'Arcy (WE, Master and Commander) and Noel Clarke (Kidulthood, Adulthood).

Traviss said it is a very British film and different to his previous two, Psychosis and Joy Division.

"It was the story that inspired me. My first big issue was making a prison look cinematic.

"It was important to make it look claustrophobic. It is a very British story."

Amy Winehouse died at her home on July 23. An inquest into the cause of death will take place on October 26.
