Robot With Grenade Launcher And Rifle ‘Will Battle Terrorists’

A robot which can shoot human beings with grenade launchers and rifles has been shown off in China - to battle ‘global terror’.

The robot doesn’t exactly look like The Terminator, though - it’s part of a trio of toy-sized robots shown off this week at the  2015 World Robot Conference in Beijing.

State news agency Xinhua said, ‘The toy-sized robots can coordinate with each other on the battlefield.

One model works as a reconnaissance robot, scouting for chemical weapons, explosives and other dangers.

Another specialises in bomb disposal, and can be sent out to defuse weapons on the battlefield.

But if there are other threats present, the third robot comes out, armed with, ‘minor-caliber weapons, recoilless rifles and grenade launchers.

‘With a sighting telescope, a trigger and a safety installed, the attacker can hit its target from a long distance.’

A local police force in Beijing has already bought three of the machines from maker HIT Robot Group for 1.5 million yuan.

‘Apart from anti-terror operations, they can also be applied in fire fighting, public security, forestry and agriculture,’ said HIT Robot Group’s Chen Deqiang said.
