Several Killed, Dozens Injured in Hong Kong Building Fire

At least five people died and 35 were injured in a fire at a 16-story building in Hong Kong on Wednesday, April 10, the South China Morning Post reported, citing local authorities.

Police said they received a call at 7:53 am on Wednesday morning about a fire at the Wah Fung Building in Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon.

Live footage shared by Facebook user HAMRO PHOTO HK shows the building on fire as firefighters rescue the people trapped inside using cranes.

The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region said the Yau Tsim Mong District Office (YTMDO) opened a temporary shelter at Henry G. Leong Yaumatei Community Centre for residents in need.
