Simon Cowell To Leave Fortune To Charity

Simon Cowell has revealed he will leave his estimated £240m fortune to charity, not his family.

The music mogul, who is expecting his first child with girlfriend Lauren Silverman, revealed his plans in an interview with Esquire magazine.

The hugely successful star seemed keen to insist his offspring would not be on the receiving end of his multimillion-pound empire.

"I'm going to leave my money to somebody. A charity, probably kids and dogs," he said.

“I don't believe in passing on from one generation to another.

"Your legacy has to be that hopefully you gave enough people an opportunity so that they could do well and you gave them your time, taught them what you know."

The 53-year-old also said he had no intention of retiring.

"A lot of people who retire, they hate their job so much, they just love the idea of not working any more.

"That horrifies me. I'm going to be still working in my 80s or 90s if I can," he said.

There has been extensive speculation around the sex of Cowell's unborn child. In the past he has spoken of his excitement of seeing the scan.

"I went to see a scan today and it is just surreal. You literally see this thing which is now alive moving around. I feel very paternal right now," he told The Times.
