Student Describes 'Good Samaritan' Attack

A student who was mugged by yobs who pretended to help him during the London riots has described how he was attacked.

Cyclist Ashraf Haziq, 20, was seen bleeding in the street after being punched in the jaw in broad daylight less than a month after arriving in Britain.

A gang of hooded youths appeared to help him to his feet but then quickly rifled through his rucksack, stealing his mobile phone and wallet, in Barking, east London.

Ashraf, from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, has relived his ordeal from his hospital bed during a visit from a friend who filmed their conversation.

"They threatened to stab me, they told me they had knives," Ashraf is seen telling his pal in the footage, posted on YouTube.

"Some of them were quite young, maybe still in primary school. They had their hoods on and demanded my bicycle."

As Ashraf waits in hospital for an operation on his broken jaw, the Prime Minister has said the attack left him "disgusted".

David Cameron added: "When we see the disgusting sight of a young man with people pretending to help him while they are robbing him, it is clear that there are things badly wrong with our society."
