Earlier this month we gave you the earth-shattering news that someone had found a record-breaking Hula Hoop.

Well, hold on to your hats, snack fans - because now we've got news of the world's longest Twiglet.

Alex Sweeney and fiancé Nancy Wingate pulled out the super sized snack last week, measuring a whopping six inches long.

Alex, 32, says he could've made a small fortune selling it on eBay - but reckons Nancy ate it instead.

Last month the world's longest Hula Hoop sold for more than £500.

But instead of cashing in on their surprising prize, which they had put back in the bag for safe-keeping, all Alex now has is a picture.

Alex, from Horley, West Sussex, found the big snack stick on March 11, but it was gone by the next day.

He said: 'I just couldn't believe the size of it - I was just shocked. I told Nancy not to eat it or throw it away, and to put it back in the bag.

'The next day I couldn't find it anywhere. She said she didn't eat it - I'm not so sure.'

Alex reckons the big snack may have snapped, and Marmite-mad Nancy munched its remains by mistake.

He added: 'They're my girlfriend's favourite snack. She has Marmite every day.'
