Man In Court After Teens Fatally Stabbed

A 19-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murder, kidnap and false imprisonment following the deaths of two young women in a flat in Wakefield.

Kimberley Frank, 17 and Samantha Sykes, 18, were both found stabbed to death in the Eastmoor area of the town in West Yorkshire on Saturday morning.

Ahmad Otak, from Wakefield, has been charged with murder, kidnap, false imprisonment and possessing a bladed instrument in a public place, West Yorkshire Police said.

During his appearance at Wakefield Magistrates' Court, he spoke only to confirm his address and date of birth.

Magistrate Lynda Hammond told Otak he would be remanded in custody to appear before Leeds Crown Court by video-link tomorrow.

Officers were called to Barden Road in Wakefield after they were contacted by Kent Police.

They said a 19-year-old woman in Dover had raised concerns for the safety of the two women.

A 19-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were released without charge.
