If you're a 23-year-old fisherman called David, you might want to start treading carefully.

The male christian name, along with fishermen and those born in 1989, has topped a list of the unluckiest names, jobs and birth years in the UK.

Davids, along with women called Joanne, are the two names most likely to be victims of personal injury, according to a survey released today.

The names James and Emma were the second unluckiest male and female names respectively, while farmers and gas workers ranked as the second and third unluckiest professions.

Those born in 1987 had the second most unlucky birth year, closely followed by 1991 and 1986.

The results were released by personal injury solicitors Edwards Hoyle, who studied the details of claimants from the past two years.

The unfortunately named David Edwards, from the firm, said: ""David and Joanne topped our charts as the most likely names to suffer some form of personal injury, and it was interesting to see that those born in the late 1980s were also most likely to be victims; clearly those in their early twenties are pretty accident-prone!"

"Clearly any 23 year old Davids or Joannes working as Fishermen need to be careful; our data shows they are far and above the most likely victims of personal injury, so we advise them to take extra care when leaving the house in the morning!"
