11 vehicles destroyed and damaged in fire at Co Down gym and spa carpark

A total of 11 vehicles have been damaged in a fire at a gym and spa car park in Belfast this morning. Firefighters were called to the incident at Bannatyne Health Club in Holywood at 9:24am after a car caught fire.

The fire subsequently spread to 10 other vehicles and firefighters using breathing apparatus and four hose reels extinguished the fire.

Two appliances from Knock Fire Station and one Appliance from Holywood Fire Station attended the incident.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters were called to reports of a car fire on the Belfast Road, Holywood.

"Firefighters using breathing apparatus and four hose reels extinguished the fire, which had spread to 10 other vehicles, and made the vehicles safe.

"The cause of the fire was accidental ignition and the incident was dealt with by 10.30am."
