13 Going On 30 is getting a musical adaptation!

On Thursday, multiple outlets reported that screenwriters Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa, who wrote the 2004 Jennifer Garner rom-com, have reunited to help create the upcoming stage version.

The production is holding a two-week workshop at London's Battersea Arts Centre in October, with four public performances — described by the theater as a "script in hand workshop presentation" with a live band — scheduled from Oct. 25 to Oct. 28.

The musical adaptation is directed by Andy Fickman, who helmed 2006's She's the Man and Roku's 2022 stage capture of Heathers: The Musical. Goldsmith and Yuspa, who have also collaborated on 2000's What Women Want, wrote the book while Michael Weiner and Alan Zachary wrote the musical's score.

“When we poured our middle school pain into the movie 13 Going On 30, we never quite imagined it would stick around to this day as a rom-com parents show their kids, a Halloween costume, a scene in an Ariana Grande music video, and a teen sleepover staple," Goldsmith and Yuspa said in a joint statement, per multiple outlets.

"Now we’re thrilled to be bringing our pain across the pond with 13 Going On 30 The Musical. It’s been endlessly fun working with ROYO, Todd Garner, Revolution Studios, composer-lyricists Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, and director Andy Fickman to reinvent this story for the London stage," they continued. "We can’t wait for a new generation to grab some Razzles and feel 30, flirty, and thriving.”

Casting has yet to be announced, but the musical's production team expects to follow up October's workshop with a full production scheduled for summer 2025, per Playbill.

Plans to adapt 13 Going On 30 for the stage appear to date back to 2016, when Deadline first reported that Fickman, Goldsmith and Yuspa were planning to bring the show to Broadway. That production, however, never came to fruition.

The original 13 Going On 30 movie starred Christa B. Allen as a 13-year-old girl in 1987, who unexpectedly has her wish to become "30, flirty and thriving" granted and wakes up in New York City circa 2004 as an adult, who was portrayed by Garner.

Mark Ruffalo costarred in the film as the main love interest, Matty, among a cast that also featured Judy Greer, Andy Serkis, Jim Gaffigan, Phil Reeves and Lynn Collins.

Three of the four public workshop productions for 13 Going on 30 The Musical at London's Buttersea Arts Centre are already sold out. More information can be found at the theater's website.
