John Terry has been inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame. The Chelsea legend is the latest name, alongside Andrew Cole, to be given the honour after fans around the world voted from a 15-man shortlist.

Terry made 492 appearances for the Blues in the Premier League throughout his trophy-laden career and is the only player to feature in all five of the club's title-winning campaigns. With 214 clean sheets to his name in the Premier League, no defender in the competition's history has more than Terry.

"I'm very grateful to have been voted into the Premier League Hall of Fame," the former Chelsea captain said. "I'm a player that certainly gave my all whenever I stepped out on the pitch and to be recognised in this way makes me really proud. It's great to have joined my former teammates who have already been inducted, and to be inducted in the same year as Ashley Cole, who was an incredible player and a close friend.

"I was lucky to share a dressing room with so many top players. To captain a club like Chelsea and achieve what we did as a team is so special to me. The Premier League is the best league in the world, which every player hopes to play in, and I'm very proud to have won it five times."

Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: "Terry’s defensive acumen and leadership qualities were essential in transforming Chelsea into a Premier League force. He led by example over a long period of time and played a key role in all five of their title successes."

Terry and former Manchester United striker Cole, who scored 187 goals in his glistening Premier League career, were part of a 15-man shortlist. On the list were Sol Campbell, Les Ferdinand, David Silva, Michael Carrick, Robbie Fowler, Eden Hazard, Yaya Toure, Jermain Defoe, Gary Neville, Edwin van der Sar, Cesc Fabregas, Michael Owen and Nemanja Vidic.

Prior to Terry and Cole's induction, the Premier League Hall of Fame already had 24 former players or ex-managers. Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger are part of the Hall of Fame for their respective contributions as managers of Manchester United and Arsenal.

Player-wise, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Dennis Bergkamp, David Beckham, Roy Keane, Eric Cantona, Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer were all inducted in the Hall of Fame's inaugural year of 2021. The following year the likes of Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany, Didier Drogba, Paul Scholes, Peter Schmeichel, Ian Wright, Wayne Rooney and Patrick Vieira were all added.

In 2023, Tony Adams, Petr Cech and Rio Ferdinand were inducted. Ashley Cole was the only player added this year before Cole and Terry's induction today.
