15 of the boldest 'naked' dresses celebrities have worn at the Cannes Film Festival
The Cannes Film Festival in France is often associated with celebrities in glamorous gowns.
But some actors, models, and influencers take a different approach and wear "naked" fashion.
Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid are just some stars who have participated in the skin-baring trend.
Always a trendsetter, Naomi Campbell attended the 2007 Cannes Film Festival in a semi-sheer minidress.
The sleeveless top of her garment was crafted from see-through black lace, with a panel of ruffles over the chest that matched its tiered, ruffled miniskirt.
Ten years later, Emily Ratajkowski wore sheer lace in the form of a daring pantsuit.
Peter Dundas designed her off-the-shoulder look, which was entirely see-through and had a deep cutout in the middle of its bodice.
There was also a section of ruched fabric that wrapped around the model's waist and extended into a ruffled skirt.
Bella Hadid, on the other hand, wore one of her most daring looks to date at the Cannes amfAR Gala that year.
Her white, Ralph & Russo couture gown left little to the imagination, as it was entirely sheer and covered in crystals.
It featured a corset bodice, asymmetrical straps, and a long skirt with a train and thigh-high slit.
Kendall Jenner made an appearance in 2018 while wearing a ruffled gown that showed some skin.
The white Schiaparelli Haute Couture design had a plunging neckline, sheer straps that covered her chest, a tiered skirt, and a bedazzled white belt around her waist.
She wore it with a seahorse broach made from diamonds and seafoam-green crystal earrings.
But that wasn't her only "naked" look at the film festival. Jenner also attended Chopard's Cannes party that year in a chainmail dress with almost nothing underneath.
Her green minidress — which bared her torso and revealed her tan underwear — was designed by Alexandre Vauthier.
She wore it with only the single undergarment and Louboutin heels.
Deepika Padukone showed that see-through fashion can be glamorous on the 2018 "Sorry Angel" red carpet.
She wore a white bridal gown from Zuhair Murad that was sheer and decorated with a white floral pattern from top to bottom.
The Indian actor also donned a matching cape across her shoulders that reached the floor.
Winnie Harlow's gown in 2019 was unlike any other seen at the film festival.
Its base layer — which had long sleeves and a floor-length skirt — was crafted from sheer, black mesh that hugged her body and extended into a short train.
And on top, the Ralph & Russo design had a bedazzled, crocodile-shaped panel that extended from Harlow's chest to her knees.
Gemma Chan was draped in gold flowers and leaves when she attended the 2021 event.
Oscar de la Renta custom-made the sparkling gown with tan mesh, creating the illusion that you could see the actor's skin between the gown's sparkling design.
Eva Longoria walked the 2022 Cannes red carpet in a black gown that was almost entirely see-through.
Alberta Ferretti designed her ruffled dress, which was sleeveless and decorated with intricate beading in floral patterns.
Alessandra Ambrosio was there for the "Armageddon Time" screening, and she wore a ball gown with an unconventional "naked" top.
Her Stéphane Rolland gown had a full white skirt and a sleeveless mesh bodice decorated with strategically-placed chunks of sparkling fabric.
The model also wore long white gloves and diamond jewelry with the outfit.
Sabrina Dhowre Elba wore a stunning halter gown with a daring edge on the 2023 "Firebrand' red carpet.
Elie Saab designed her sparkling halter dress, which created the illusion that she was covered in diamonds.
It had swirls of the stones draped across its tan fabric from its high-neck collar to its column skirt.
Leonie Hanne walked "The Idol" red carpet in a baby-blue gown encrusted with sparkles.
The German influencer has a history of bold outfits at the Cannes Film Festival — but her latest takes the cake.
The custom Georges Hobeika gown was strapless with a sheer circle in the middle of its bodice, creating a "naked" effect that extended to its semi-sheer skirt.
Fan Bingbing proved that you can subtly wear "naked" fashion at the "Asteroid City" premiere.
Tamara Ralph designed her strapless white gown, which was sheer but covered with white feathers to subdue the daring element.
The gown also had a black belt around the waist and a feathered train attached at the back.
Stylist Emili Sindlev opted for a see-through gown that showed her skin and thong on the "Monster" red carpet.
Paco Rabanne designed the sleeveless, chainmail dress with a V-shaped neckline, midi skirt, and a back cutout featuring a whale-tail detail.
Irina Shayk took the "naked" look to another level when she was photographed wearing only lingerie and diamonds.
She donned a mesh bra and matching string underwear — both with a monogram Gucci print — covered by a mesh slip with diamonds draped down her chest from its neckline.
The model also added mesh gloves, knee-high stockings, red lipstick, and black sunglasses.
