1940s Day coming to attraction with steam train rides and flypast

Take a step back in time as 1940s Day is returning to a much-loved attraction this spring.

Bressingham Steam Museum, near Diss, is hosting the event on Sunday, May 12 2024 from 10.30am until 5pm.

It has been organised in collaboration with the Dad's Army Appreciation Society, with participation from various groups.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the memorabilia, vehicles, fashions and music of the 1940s.

The museum will be operating a 'Full Steam' schedule on Sunday, including its four narrow gauge railway locomotives.

The popular Gallopers will also be running alongside standard gauge brake van rides, steam rollers and traction engines.

There will be displays of period vehicles, including the original Jones’ Butcher’s van visiting from the Dad’s Army Museum.

You can view the museum’s collection of Dad’s Army vehicles too, with many of the outdoor scenes in the sitcom filmed in the area.

You can also expect re-enactments, stalls and musical entertainment, with a Hurricane flypast scheduled for 1.20pm (subject to weather conditions).
