2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Has Lots More Cargo Space Than Before
We measured the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe mid-size SUV's cargo space to see how it compares with its predecessor.
It holds five carry-on suitcases behind the third row, 16 suitcases behind the second row, and 34 suitcases with all the seats folded.
The 2024 Santa Fe starts at $35,345 and is on sale now.
The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe's boxy new shape pays dividends on the inside, as Hyundai says that the new model has more cargo space and passenger room than before. We tested that claim for ourselves and measured exactly how much stuff fits inside the redesigned Santa Fe's cargo area. And the answer is: a lot.
With all the seats folded, the 2024 Santa Fe held 34 carry-on suitcases in our testing—seven whole suitcases more than the previous-gen Santa Fe could accommodate. This bears out Hyundai's claim that the new model has 80 cubic feet of total cargo space, versus 72 cubic feet in the old model. The growth is not particularly surprising considering the 2024 Santa Fe's squared-off rear end and the larger overall footprint. Its wheelbase is 1.9 inches longer and its overall length grows by 1.8 inch, and it's wider as well.
No matter how you measure it, the new Santa Fe has more room inside than its predecessor. However, the comparisons with other seat configurations aren't exactly apples to apples because the old one had two rows of seats and the new one has a standard third row of seats. Still, the new Santa Fe held 16 carry-on suitcases with the third row of seats folded, compared with just 12 suitcases behind the second row of the old model. With the third row seats up, the new Santa Fe can hold five carry-on suitcases.
