Yahoo News 22-Year Old Israeli Broadcast News Editor Among Those Dead Following Hamas Attack at Rave Festival
Ayelet Arnin, a 22-year news editor who worked at Israel’s main broadcaster Kan, was among the 200 civilians killed by Hamas terrorists while attending a rave party in the country’s southern region on Saturday.
Arnin, who was reportedly an American citizen, was reported dead by her friend who was with her at the party and informed her parents.

Kan News Division spokesman Elon Baruch said in a statement Wednesday, “The Israel Broadcasting Corporation is saddened by the murder of our friend, Ayelet Arnin, an employee of the corporation, a sub-editor in the news division, in an attack by Hamas terrorists in the south. We share in the deep sorrow of the family members, her many friends and colleagues. Ayelet was a symbol of professionalism, diligence and always strived for perfection in her work and was very much loved by all of us.”
Arnin had joined Kan about a year ago and served as a sub-editor for the evening news edition at Kan 11.
She also served with Israeli army radio as a digital editor, news editor and editorial coordinator. “Like the dedication that characterized her professional work, Ayelet was devoted to her friends, her friends and her soldiers,” the radio station told the Walla news site.
Earlier Wednesday, news broke that Israeli filmmaker Yahav Winner was found dead in the kibbutz of Kfar Aza which was ravaged by the Hamas attacks in Southern Israel. He’s one of the dozens of people from that kibbutz who was murdered by Hamas terrorists who raided his home. His body was found by the Israeli army. Winner directed several short films, including “The Boy” which won a prize at this year’s Tel Aviv Student Film Festival.
Go2Film, the Israeli sales and distribution company which is representing “The Boy,” issued a statement saying that the “loss of Yahav has left an indelible void in our hearts, and we extend our deepest condolences to Shaylee Atary, his wife, his family, friends, and all who were touched by his artistry and spirit.”
The company said Atary’s family and friends are currently gathering donations for her and Shaya, the daughter, “who were left with nothing after the attack.”
Israel has largely shuttered its film and TV industry as the country grapples with the insurgency and a death toll that has surpassed 1,200. At least 150 Israeli citizens and soldiers are being held by Hamas terrorists as hostages.
