24/7 Play Festival returns to Goshen Theater

Jan. 28—GOSHEN — For about a 24-hour period, Friday into Saturday, the Goshen Theater was once again a venue for local dramatic talent.

The 24/7 Film Festival returned this past weekend, having taken place during most of the past 20 years, the COVID-19 pandemic not withstanding. Per the title, the idea of the festival is to give local actors, writers and directors 24 hours to create seven short scenes, which will in turn be performed.

"They started at 9 p.m. and they were writing through the night," said Miguel Martinez, Goshen, who took part in the festival.

Adrienne Nesbitt served as festival producer.

"Last night we had writers create 10-minute plays each," she said.

Nesbitt said that the play directors arrived at the theater at 8 a.m. to get the scripts, with actors following suit at around 9 a.m. to begin rehearsals, which then took place at a number spots around the theater.

The rehearsing would continued much of the day, culminating with performances of all the scenes beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets were on sale for the performances.

"Everybody is really collaborative, and we're excited to see how everything turns out tonight," Nesbitt added.

In addition to the Goshen Theater, sponsors for the event include Art House, the Goshen Arts Council, Good of Good of Goshen and Downtown Goshen. To learn more, visit https://art-house-105912.square.site.
