My £3.49 Middle of Lidl buy has added a special touch to my garden

The first bit of summer sunshine brings us all outside doesn't it, even if it is short-lived.

And, when spending more time outdoors, it's inevitable you want a nice space to relax in.

Even if you don't have money for a full garden makeover, or indeed don't have much of a garden at all, there are still little things you can do to brighten things up.

I did exactly that with my recent Lidl buy and it cost me just £3.49. Having spotted its new range of garden lights in its Middle of Lidl section, among them was a small box of Glow in the Dark Pebbles.

I'm always a bit dubious as to whether glow in the dark products actually work, all too often you discover they give off a faint glow that can really only be seen through squinted eyes. But for £3.49 for a box of around 17 stones, I thought it was worth a try.

Having placed them among some pieces of slate in one of my plant pots, I left them alone for the day, wondering if I'd see them much at all once night fell.

But I was pleasantly surprised when I went outside as dusk fell and could already see them glowing. By the time it was fully dark, they were really quite bright.

You wouldn't think such a little thing could make such a big difference, but I like the special touch they've made for so little cost and might even buy a couple more boxes to spread the pebbles elsewhere.

There are other products to choose from the Livarno range too, including some LED Bulb String Lights I picked up for £9.99 for a box of 10. They have a six-hour timer which automatically repeats daily, so you just switch them on whenever required and start the timer.

I chose the warm white light ones, but you can get coloured ones too, as well as Lantern String Lights, again either white or coloured.
