Heavy rain may bring “some flooding and disruption to travel” in the northern Lincolshire area tomorrow.

A yellow weather warning, which will be in place for almost 30 hours, has been issued by the Met Office that includes the whole of the region as far south as Cambridgeshire, along with large swathes of northern England and into Scotland. The warning is in force from the early hours of tomorrow (Wednesday, May 22) morning, from about 12.15am and is forecast to remain in place until 6am on Thursday, May 23.

The Met Office said that by Wednesday, an area of low pressure will approach the UK from the east, bringing heavy and, in places, prolonged rainfall. The precise track of the low pressure will determine how much rain falls over land areas and how far west across the UK the heavy rain will reach.

Dan Rudman, deputy chief meteorologist, said: “Low pressure is going to influence our weather from the middle of this week, bringing some heavy rain to parts of the UK. Eastern areas are most likely to see the highest rainfall accumulations, though this will depend on the precise positioning of the low pressure.

“It is important to keep an eye on the forecast as the detail becomes clearer. It is possible severe weather warnings will also be issued.”

The forecast for the Grimsby and Scunthorpe areas is for heavy rain from 6am through until mid-afternoon tomorrow, when the rainfall is expected to become lighter. Temperatures are expected to be no higher than 16C and remaining the same on Thursday, in Grimsby, with a degree or so cooler in Scunthorpe on those days.
