50 Injured as Earthquake Shakes Northwest Turkey

A 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck in Duzce, northwest Turkey, in the early hours of Wednesday, November 23, injuring 50 people, a government agency said, with tremors felt as far away as Istanbul and Izmir.

Turkey’s disaster management ministry said the earthquake struck the Golyaka district of Duzce at 4:08 am, and at least 18 aftershocks followed.

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said no deaths had been reported.
