500 books to be offered during library's summer giveaway

Apr. 1—GOSHEN — A matching donation will put 500 additional books in the hands of Goshen children and teens.

In February, the Friends of the Goshen Public Library offered to match donations up to $2,500 to the library's Summer Reading Book Giveaways. The donation total was announced on March 25.

Since 2021, the Summer Reading Book Giveaways have provided more than 5,500 free books to area youth. Any child or teen who stops by the weekly event in June will get to choose a book to take home and keep in their personal library.

Along with direct donations and the matching funds from the Friends of the Library, GPL also plans to host a Grown-Up Spelling Bee at Goshen Brewing Company on April 12 to benefit the Book Giveaways.

"We are so thankful for the community support for our Book Giveaways and especially the generous match from the Friends," said Ann-Margaret Rice, director of the library. "Our gratitude can never be expressed enough!"
