The transfer window is open and Aston Villa chiefs are set to get really busy in the next couple of weeks. There is likely to be as many exits as there are player signings and the plan will be to strengthen the squald while also staying on the right side of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

These rules could potentially lead to the sale of a major asset, jeopardising the hard work done by Unai Emery on the pitch. Villa needs to find a balance between staying within the regulations and preparing for a competitive race for the top four, along with new Champions League responsibilities.

The other option would be to quickly facilitate the departure of peripheral players, but this comes with the added risk of not maximising revenue due to the need for speed.

Here, Birmingham Live brings you latest from Villa Park on this opening week of transfer news and gossip.

McKennie and Iling-Junior Double deal a no-brainer

Samuel Iling-Junior appears set to return to England four years after leaving Chelsea for Juventus at the age of 16 as he and Weston McKennie make part of the deal which will see Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz head to Turin.

The winger joined Juventus in September 2020 and played his first two seasons at Juve with their under-19s, making 28 appearances and scoring four goals in his debut campaign, then 38 games and 10 goals in the second. Iling-Junior made his senior debut against Empoli at the Allianz Stadium in October 2022 before then grabbing an assist on his Champions League debut soon after.

A year after Iling-Junior joined Juve, two more Chelsea academy products arrived in Italy as Tammy Abraham signed for Roma in 2021 and then Fikayo Tomori for AC Milan two years ago.

BirminghamLive says : There is a real sense of purpose about the transfer stories emerging around Aston Villa at the moment.

The players linked to leave like Luiz, Carlos, Cash - you can understand why. The club will get solid chunks of cash for these players, but with a shrew plan in place to replace them.

Luiz heading to Juventus in exchange for cash, and two quality players, one aged 20 and the other 25, makes a lot of sense.

That's immediately strengthening the squad with one deal, and an inevitable exit everyone was expected. The Villa transfer committee win the day here.

Tammy Abraham link remains on table

Villa are among a number of teams like West Ham United and Spurs who retain an interest to bring Tammy Abraham back to the Premier League, suggest Italian media.

Just one of many transfer rumours floating around Villa, it has been speculated the Englishman could make a return to the club he earned fan-favourite status with as a loanee aiding a successful promotion push. Abraham 's current club AS Roma are said to be in need of funds to comply with financial rules, whilst the striker's output has dwindled following an injury-hit year in Serie A.

However, they are not the only team in the running and are in fact reported to be second-best in efforts to seal this deal, according to La Gazetta dello Sport.

BirminghamLive says: They do sometimes say don't go back, however in Tammy's case Villa have very little to lose.

Jhon Duran is very likely to head to Chelsea and very unlikely to stay at Villa Park. Abraham is a quality player with European experience and at the right price, there are few deals that make more sense.

Bayern Munich ready to swoop

Reports suggest that Bayern Munich are eyeing up Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey for a potential summer transfer.

The German giants, under the new management of Vincent Kompany, are planning a significant overhaul after a disappointing third-place finish in the Bundesliga last season - their first without a trophy since 2011/12.

As per The Times (via TBR), Ramsey is being considered as part of this revamp.

It's believed that the Bavarian club have been keeping tabs on the 23 year old midfielder, who, according to The Athletic, could fetch a price tag of around £50m.

BirminghamLive says : It's a difficult one for Villa if this interest does materialise. He's a local lad, a brilliant talent, and he has a glittering career in the game in front of him. There is a strong argument that Villa should keep him, but there is also a really strong argument that it would be a fantastic recognition of the club's academy and a sound piece of business.
