6 Home and Away questions we have after this week's Australian episodes

From Digital Spy

Home and Away spoilers follow from this week's Australian-pace episodes, which some UK readers may prefer to avoid.

Home and Away aired six new episodes in Australia this week, as Jasmine Delaney's long-running mental health storyline came to a head and new character Amber Simmons arrived in Summer Bay with a bang.

Here are six big questions we've been left with after the latest episodes.

1. When will Jasmine return?

Jasmine faced another upsetting setback as Tori made the difficult decision to file for an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) against her, which will legally oblige her to stay away for 12 months. After taking the necessary steps, Tori headed over to see Jasmine one last time with a mental health plan to help address her troubling behaviour.

Jasmine seemed to be on board with making some positive changes, but once she found out about the AVO, she was sent straight back to square one and felt deceived by Tori.

Feeling that she had lost everything, Jasmine left Summer Bay and went to stay with Robbo's parents on their farm for a while. The Morgans, Willow and Irene were all left with no indication of when she'd be back.

Jasmine hasn't left the show – in fact, we know she'll feature in next week's episodes when we see her on the farm – but the big question is when she'll be willing to come back to the Bay and how long it'll take for her to be accepted back into the community. Knowing the sad reasons behind Jasmine's behaviour, will Tori ever consider dropping the AVO?

2. Will Amber ever forgive Colby?

A new Home and Away character made her debut, as Madeleine Jevic joined the soap in the role of Amber Simmons. Amber was introduced as John Palmer's new carer, but in a classic soap coincidence, she happened to have pre-existing connections with half of Summer Bay.

The most notable was with Colby, as she punched him in the face when they came face-to-face on the beach. It turned out that Amber blames Colby for the tragic demise of her brother, as he fled from the scene of a car crash and left him to die a few years ago.

Amber had several frosty exchanges with Colby and also berated former friends Willow and Dean for being so close to him after what happened. For the time being, Amber and Colby will have to cope with living in the same town – could a truce ever be on the cards, or are the old wounds too deep with this one?

3. Is Colby heading for a comeuppance?

Is it just us, or has Colby been pretty unlikeable a lot of the time lately? The Summer Bay cop has hassled the Parata family endlessly – mostly based on jealousy over Ari – and his actions have often seemed hypocritical, given that he's a secret killer.

Amber's arrival has also reminded viewers of Colby's dark past from his days in Mangrove River, once again illustrating that his good guy image is somewhat of a sham. With the Paratas and Amber all calling out Colby at the moment, could he be making a few too many enemies in the Bay?

4. Should Ziggy be worried about Amber?

New arrival Amber also has a romantic history with Dean. They were mainly friends back in the day, but it occasionally spilled over into more.

When Amber saw Dean again, she cheekily invited him to go to bed with her, but was wrong-footed when she found out that he had a girlfriend. Ziggy tried to seem cool about it, but appeared slightly worried about Dean having an old flame in the Bay.

Ziggy's worries are perhaps understandable given the way Brody mistreated her, but she ultimately seemed to accept Dean at his word when he promised that he's not interested in Amber. After some of their recent hiccups, can Dean and Ziggy stay strong and united even with an ex in the mix?

5. Will Mackenzie give into temptation?

Mackenzie confirmed what we all knew already when she confided in Dean about how she has secret feelings for Tane. She was adamant that she wouldn't be acting on them as she's with Tane's brother Ari, but Dean sensed trouble afoot and worried about how his friendship with Ari could potentially be affected.

Recent Home and Away trailers in Australia have been endlessly teasing this new love triangle, so it's sure to be one to watch over the next few weeks. Is it only a matter of time before Mackenzie gives into temptation?

6. Does Marilyn need a new direction?

Against the odds, John's spirits improved following Amber's arrival as his carer. The pair got off to a disastrous start as Amber's brash attitude infuriated John, but it didn't take long for him to start warming to her.

Amber's no-nonsense approach seemed to be exactly what John needed, as she encouraged him to focus more strictly on his exercises if he ever wanted to make a full recovery following his stroke.

Marilyn had mixed feelings after Amber's arrival, feeling happy that John was doing better but also worrying that she wasn't needed in her husband's life anymore. Does Marilyn now need a new direction of her own now the pressure of looking after John has eased?

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia).
