New 82-space car park to open in Coventry city centre
A new 82-space car park will open in Coventry city centre. It will replace the New Union Street multi storey car park which is being torn down.
The new facility will join with the next door 45-space Cheylesmore car park, which is currently shut to the public. Drivers will use this access and the car park will "rationalise the layout" to provide the spaces, a report said.
The car park will have five disabled bays and five per cent of the spaces will have to be able to provide electric charging points. The move to transform the space got permission from the council yesterday (11 April.)

Massive Coventry mural to be torn down as city centre car park to be demolished
Work to demolish the 1970s multi-storey car park started at the end of February and is expected to go on until mid-May. Coventry City Council has said the new surface car park on the site will be temporary.
Speaking about the car park demolition, Cllr Patricia Hetherton said earlier this year that the site is 'past its best'. She said it had turned into a bit of 'an eyesore'.
