9-1-1: Lone Star Shocker: Sierra McClain Leaving as Final Season Rumors Swirl

There are major alarm bells ringing when it comes to 9-1-1: Lone Star’s future.

Sierra McClain, who has co-starred in all four seasons of the Fox procedural as 9-1-1 operator Grace, will not be returning for the upcoming (and much-delayed) fifth season, TVLine has confirmed. Our sister site Deadline first reported the news, which comes amid persistent rumors that Season 5 of Lone Star will be its last.

Actress Robyn Lively, who plays Marlene, the mother of Judd’s son, posted earlier this week on social media that she was “so excited to be a part of [Lone Star’s] final season!!” (She later deleted the post.) The cast’s contracts are set to expire when production on Season 5 ends next month, per Deadline, and cast members have already begun pursuing other projects. (A source tells TVLine that no decision has yet been made about the show’s fate.)

A spinoff of 9-1-1, Lone Star debuted on Fox in 2020, with Rob Lowe starring as Austin firefighter Owen Strand. It hasn’t aired in over a year, though, with Season 4 wrapping up in May 2023 and the fifth season delayed by last year’s dual Hollywood strikes. Lone Star was expected to return this spring after the strikes ended, but Fox pushed Season 5 to this fall, where it will air Mondays at 8/7c. (The original 9-1-1 moved from Fox to ABC, with Season 7 debuting in March.)

McClain has been a main cast member for all four Lone Star seasons as Grace Ryder, a 9-1-1 operator and the wife of firefighter Judd, played by Jim Parrack. Grace is also close friends with Gina Torres’ character Tommy. We last saw Grace and Judd cuddling up at TK and Carlos’ wedding in the Season 4 finale. (See our full recap here.)
