If you've ever loved a TV show so much that you've literally wanted to climb into the screen and be right there knocking back a whisky at that iconic bar, your dreams might not be too far off reality.

Here are 9 TV sets you can actually visit.

1. Game of Thrones

The most iconic scenes in Game of Thrones are synonymous with that craggy Northern Irish backdrop. If you want to recreate your favourite episodes without meeting a similarly gory fate, you can book onto an actual tour of Game of Thrones filming locations, like Tollymore Forest Park aka North of Winterfell, which appears as a setting for Men of the Night's Watch. Note: if you're not an outdoorsy type you may need to rethink...

2. The Vampire Diaries

Mystic Grill is at the centre of everything when all hell breaks loose in The Vampire Diaries. Literally. And despite being put through its paces, destroyed and rebuilt, in real life it's a fully functioning restaurant. And it's still standing. You'll have to hop on a plane to Mystic Falls aka Covington, Georgia, where you can also drop in on Giuseppe's Pub, Ruosseau's Bar, The Voodoo Shop and even visit the spot where *spoiler* Dahlia killed Aiden.

3. Breaking Bad

These days, the only white house we're game for is Walter White's abode in Breaking Bad (yep, we're still not over it). To see the sights first hand you'll have to make your way over to Albuquerque, New Mexico where the show was set and filmed. That includes Walter's home, which FYI is an actually person's house so, y'know, be respectful and maybe don't go full Walter and throw pizza on the roof. You can also head downtown and check out Jesse's neck of the woods.

4. Ballers

If you're a fan of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's NFL drama Ballers (or you just want an excuse to go to Miami), you can see all of Spencer Strasmore's favourite hangouts IRL by jetting to South Florida. Head to the pool area of the W Hotel where many of season's one scenes were shot, or check out Ricky Jarrett's luxury waterfront home at 212 South Island road. (Yep, it actually exists in real life.)

5. Downton Abbey

The OG Downton Abbey is actually Highclere Castle in Hampshire and sits on a 5,000 acre estate. The castle is open to visitors (bar Fridays and Saturdays), so if you want to get your Crawley on book into one of their guided tours. Highclere are so embracing of their Downton fame they're even throwing a special garden party for hardcore fans in September.

6. Sex and the City

We know, the whole of New York is basically the Sex and the City set. But if you've got a thing for cake, The Magnolia Bakery on 401 Bleeker Street is worth a visit. You can say you've been to the exact location where Carrie told Miranda about her crush on Aiden back in season three, while also chowing down on world-class cupcakes. Just brace yourself for queues - the show has turned this little bakery into a tourist trap.

7. Sherlock

Sherlock's next door cafe Speedy's is a legit cafe with 4 and a half stars on TripAdvisor to prove it. Get on the Tube to Euston Square and stroll over the road to take in the location that has appeared at nearly every episode of the show. While you're in London check out St Bartholomew's Hospital, which makes a significant appearance in both the show and in Arthur Conan Doyle's original stories.

8. The Walking Dead

Zombie walks have been a thing for a while now, but if you're a fan of The Walking Dead you'll want more than a walk through town in a ripped t-shirt. Over in Atlanta, Georgia you can map out your own tour of the show's most iconic locations. Start at Rick's house (which is opposite a zoo by the by) and make your way to the survivors' camp, which is actually a former granite quarry that's been transformed into park and reservoir Bellwood Quarry/Westside Park.

9. Orange Is the New Black

Litchfield Penitentiary is actually filmed at the abandoned Rockland Children's Psychiatric Center in New York, which is pretty bloody creepy. We also don't recommend paying it a visit as the last fan that did ended up being accused of trespassing. BUT we do recommend paying Red and her husband's cafe Dmitri's a visit. In real life it's an Italian deli called Rosario's, located in Astoria, New York, and we're pretty sure it's also a mafia-free zone.
