Residents from a care home were given the special opportunity to take a boat trip and visit the Isle of Wight.

On Tuesday, June 11 residents from Wilton Manor Bupa Care Home were treated to a boat trip, which was arrange with Hill Robinson Yacht Management and the Wet Wheels Foundation.

While onboard the Wet Wheels Solent Boat, 92-year-old resident, Frank Ashton, even got the chance to take a turn at the wheel and drive his fellow residents and care team.

During the residents’ visit to the Isle of Wight, they enjoyed fish and chips for lunch, went shopping, and even had time to explore some of the local sights.

Home Manager at Wilton Manor Bupa Care Home, Marcela Neagou, said: “Frank was over the moon when we told him he could drive the boat. He had the biggest smile and told us he didn’t want it to end.

“The boat crew were absolutely amazing, and we are very grateful to Hill Robinson Yacht Management and the Wet Wheels Foundation for making this trip a reality for our residents.

"They can’t stop talking about what an amazing time they had, it was a day they will remember for a long time and an extra special treat for Frank, who will look back on the day fondly.”
