Police near Manchester failed to see the humour when a man went to the station to complain that the warm weather had ruined his holiday.

The odd incident happened on Monday when a holidaymaker visited the Oldham Police Station to complain that it was too hot.

The GMP Chadderton Facebook account explained what had happened – and that they were none too pleased.

The status reads: ‘We had a male attend Oldham Police Station yesterday wanting to report that whilst on holiday it was too hot for him.’

‘The male was advised that this was not a Police problem.’

It added a warning to the status, saying: ‘Please do not waste Police time, the offence carries a maximum penalty of six months' imprisonment and/or a fine.’

Temperatures in Oldham on Monday, the day of the complaint, reached 14 degrees Celsius, meanwhile other areas of the UK are set to hit 25C, according to forecasters.

Facebook users appreciated the hilarity of the complaint, one said: ‘Give him a holiday in a cell, maybe he will think twice next time!’
