There are reports of 'flooding' causing dangerous driving conditions on the A50 this evening. A StokeonTrentLive reader said they were forced to 'stop dead' on the A50 in Normacot after their car was 'covered' in water kicked up by a passing lorry.

The passenger in the vehicle reported flooding near the Normacot turn-off and on the A50 in Meir.

"There are loads of floods on A50, please be careful," they said, adding lorries were "driving crazy" through the standing water. "It has nearly caused us an accident," they said.

The passenger said her and her father were driving along the A50 westbound when they were involved in a close-call before the Normacot turn-off.

They said a lorry "sped by and covered our car. We couldn't see out of the windscreen." The passenger said her father "had to stop dead as he couldn't see to drive."

"The car behind nearly hit us, too," she said, adding: "They are driving like complete idiots when it's horrendous on the A50 due to the weather."

They described the incident as a "bit of a shock." There were earlier reports of heavy traffic on the A50 near Uttoxeter.
