Aaron Ramsey hints at Arsenal stay as he looks forward to 'exciting time' under Unai Emery

Aaron Ramsey has provided a strong indication that he plans to extend his contract at Arsenal at the start of “an exciting time for the club” under Unai Emery.

Ramsey has just 12 months remaining on his contract and could be sold by the Gunners, who are desperate to avoid a repeat of the Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil saga that defined the early months of last season, if he does not agree an extension.

Arsenal and Ramsey are already in communication over an extension to his deal, believed to currently be worth around £100,000-a-week, but as yet there has been no breakthrough for a player who has previously been linked with a move to Barcelona.

However the lure of working with the newly-appointed Emery appears to be strong for the Welshman.

Asked if he was looking forward to working with Emery, Ramsey told reporters: "Of course.

"I haven't spoken to him at all yet, but I think it's an exciting time for the club.

"I can't wait to get back there now.”

Ramsey played the full 90 minutes for Wales in their 0-0 friendly draw with Mexico in Pasadena but suffered an ankle injury during the match.
