Actor Mandy Patinkin Joins Writers Guild Strike in New York City

Actors and directors joined members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) in New York City, who were on strike for a second week on Wednesday, May 10.

Footage posted by WGA East Vice President Lisa Takeuchi Cullen shows Mandy Patinkin, an actor and singer known for his roles in The Princess Bride and Homeland, giving an impassioned statement of support for the WGA in New York City on Wednesday. He carries a sign that reads, “You killed residuals, prepare to pay,” a reference to a line from the 1987 Princess Bride film.

On May 2, productions for shows like Saturday Night Live were halted after failed negotiations between the guild and media companies such as Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Discovery, Paramount, Sony, NBC Universal, and Disney. Credit: Lisa Takeuchi Cullen via Storyful
