Adam Lanza Made Weird Call To Radio Show

A year before the Newtown massacre, Adam Lanza called a radio show and talked at length about an infamous chimp that ripped off a woman's face in 2009.

In the phone call, reported by the New York Daiy News, Lanza compares Travis the chimp to a "teenage mall shooter".

"His attack can be seen entirely parallel to the attacks and random acts of violence that you bring up on your show every week, committed by humans, which the mainstream also has no explanation (for)," Lanza says of Travis in the call to an Oregon college radio station.

"I just ... don't think it would be such a stretch to say that he very well could have been a teenage mall shooter or something like that."

The woman attacked by Travis, Charla Nash, suffered horrific injuries and eventually had a face transplant.

The newspaper said Lanza appeared to mask his voice during the December 2011 call, which lasted about seven minutes. It said the call was confirmed by two former friends of the gunman.

"Travis wasn't an untamed monster at all," Lanza went on to say, according to the newspaper.

"He wasn't just feigning domestication, he was civilized. He was able to integrate into society."

In December 14, 2012, Lanza shot and killed his mother at their home before driving to the Sandy Hook Elementary School, where he killed 20 children and six teachers.

The 20-year-old then committed suicide by shooting himself in the mouth with a handgun as police arrived at the scene.

A prosecutor report issued late last year portrayed Lanza as obsessed with mass murders, but concluded his motives might never be known.

The massacre in Connecticut shocked America and rekindled a debate on gun control in the country.

The Anarchy Radio show host, John Zerzan, told the Daily News that he remembered the call.

"The only thing that seemed odd was his voice seemed kind of robotic," said Mr Zerzan.

"But what he was saying made sense."
