Adele 'in talks' to play Nancy in new film adaptation of Oliver!

Adele looks set to break into the acting world, with it being reported that the British star is in talks to play Nancy in a new adaptation of the musical Oliver!.

Movie bosses are said to have approached the singer about playing the iconic Charles Dickens’ character, which was played by Shani Wallis in the 1968 film adaptation.

Earlier this year, Adele revealed that she planned to take a step back from touring in order to spend more time with her four-year-old son, Angelo, and husband, Simon Konecki.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “It would be a major part for her and she’s seriously considering it.

“She’s talked about Angelo being her number one priority and she sees this as a role that he could appreciate too. It would be a new challenge for her but one she would definitely be up for.”

The Oliver! remake is to be produced by West End legend Sir Cameron Mackintosh and Working Title Films, who together worked on the Oscar-winning 2012 film adaptation of musical Les Miserables.

If she nabs the acting role, it’ll be Adele’s first venture into film aside from penning and recording the soundtrack for 2012 James Bond movie Skyfall.

The claims come two months after the singer was forced to cancel the final two dates of her world tour at Wembley Stadium after damaging her vocal cords.

The 29-year-old star was left “heartbroken” after disappointing thousands of fans, with the cancellation coming just days after she confirmed that she might not go on another world tour again.
