Adventure Island staff receive British Sign Language training to boost inclusivity

Staff at a Southend-based theme park have been learning British Sign Language in a bid to be a welcoming place for everyone.

Adventure Island, in Western Esplanade, has had a visit from Sign Away BSL to help teach some of the staff British Sign Language.

Sign Away BSL is an organisation which helps teach British Sign Language and raises awareness around the deaf community.

James Miller, operations director at Stockvale, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Sign Away BSL for coming down to Adventure Island and training our team in British Sign Language.

"Their expertise has been invaluable, and we are truly grateful for their contribution to making Adventure Island a more inclusive and welcoming place for everyone."

A spokesman for Sign Away BSL added: "It was great to deliver BSL and Deaf Awareness training for Adventure Island.
