AJ Pritchard has thanked fans for their support after it's been revealed that his girlfriend Abbie Quinnen suffered burns in an accident back in January during a video stunt gone wrong.

The former Strictly pro, 26, said he and Quinnen will discuss it further when they "both feel comfortable" to do so.

He addresses the incident in an upcoming episode of the AJ vs Curtis podcast he hosts with brother Curtis Pritchard.

In the episode set for release on Monday, Pritchard says: "For anybody that hasn't seen it, there was a story yesterday where Abbie had an accident. That's why I'm just saying thank you for all the lovely messages and everything if you didn't see it in the newspapers, thank you very much for all the love and support and the kind messages. I know we haven't replied to everybody. But thank you for that.

"We will talk about it further down the line when we both feel comfortable. So yeah, just thanks for that love. It means a lot and your support, it keeps us positive and keeps us all going."

The Sun first reported that Quinnen, a dancer, experienced third degree burns in January when the pair were filming a 'life hack' video for their Instagram followers which involved cutting a glass bottle in half to create a vase.

The trick requires a rope covered in a flammable chemical to be wrapped around a bottle before a flame is put to it. However, the glass exploded during their attempt and Quinnen's upper body was engulfed in flames.

A spokesman for the couple has confirmed: “Abbie has undergone surgery on her upper body and will continue to receive treatment.

“Abbie and AJ cannot thank all the nurses and doctors enough for their incredible care, support and expertise whilst being at Chelsea and Westminster Burns Unit and at Ealing Hospital.”

It's said AJ's brother stepped in to drive Quinnen to Ealing Hospital before she was transferred to Chelsea and Westminster’s specialist burns unit.

Quinnen has reportedly made 20 hospital visits and has needed three skin grafts.
