Alabama Sheriffs Rodeo prepared for severe weather

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Alabama Sheriff’s Rodeo in south Dothan is hoping the rain stays away from the fairgrounds on the first day of the three-day rodeo.

It’s the first day of the three-day rodeo.

All 67 sheriffs from each county will be represented with all kinds of rodeo activities, law enforcement equipment to see up close for photo opportunities, and vendors.

Although they don’t want to respond to severe weather, they are prepared for worst-case scenarios if it happens overnight.

“They have put something in place where they are going to have cots and shelter on station here at the festival,” Lambert said. “The sheriffs are going to have additional deputies they will be here throughout the night that if we have to do any evacuations god forbid they don’t they will help them get them in shelters”

But come rain or shine, they say rodeo activities will continue.
