This Morning viewers were stunned as Alan Carr threw up over the back of the sofa after eating a durian fruit.

The fruit – which is known for its distinctive, strong smell – was brought out after a teaser clip from one of Carr’s TV programmes showed contestants guessing its name.

Comedian Carr said durian “absolutely stinks” but was game when it came to eating some.

Host Dermot O’Leary also agreed to a taste, but his co-presenter Alison Hammond refused.

Carr looked fine as he bit into the durian, but it seems he quickly regretted his decision, as he turned to Hammond and O’Leary and asked if he could “get rid of it”.

Both rushed to get Carr a tissue but it was too late, as he suddenly leaned over the back of the This Morning couch, where he apparently spat it out.

“We did have a tissue but don't worry!" Hammond laughed, as Carr apologised.

"Oh sorry, I thought I was back at home!” he exclaimed.

Grabbing some to tissues to clear it up, he went on: “I feel bad about being sick behind your sofa, I'll clean it up.”

“I'm not a savage!" he insisted.

Viewers were tickled by the funny moment, with one tweeting a laughing emoji and saying: “Haaa Alan spitting it out over the sofa.”

“God love Alan Carr,” said another.

“He is brilliant.”

“Never laughed so hard in long ages...” remarked someone else.

However, not everyone was impressed.

“Alan Carr spitting behind the sofa literally makes me feel sick,” sniped one person.

“Why would anyone actually think this is an OK thing to do?”
