What did you miss?

Alan Cumming shocked This Morning viewers with his comments about ageing.

The actor, who hosts the US version of The Traitors and turns 59 this month, told a story about how he was dealing with “scrotal ageing” as he discusses getting older in his latest cabaret-style show. During his appearance on the ITV programme he got to talking about the sorts of things he covers on stage.

And as hosts Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle looked on, he launched into a tale about experiencing the ageing process in an intimate area.

What, how, and why?

“I get these ball checks… one time I was in the shower having a little check,” he said. “I was checking downstairs, because there is an organisation I support called Cahonas and their catchphrase is ‘Check your balls’.

“Because you know, like in the way women check their breasts, it is good to check there because of the risk of testicular cancer. So I was doing that and I saw these two little red dots on one of my testicles. It was like someone had taken a red Sharpie.”

He went on: “I went to the dermatologist and he looked and he went, ‘Oh Alan, that’s nothing to worry about. That’s just a normal part of scrotal ageing’.”

Gibson and Doyle started to laugh, and Doyle quipped: “They look old in the first place don’t they?” “Yes! Scrotal ageing is a thing,” chuckled Cumming.

Viewers were also amused by the tale, with one posting on X: “Scrotal ageing - never thought I’d hear that said on TV.” “'Scrotal ageing’ is my safe word,” joked someone else.

Another fan remarked that “only the fantastic Alan Cumming can get away with” saying “scrotum ageing” on This Morning. “Adore him,” they added.

“Alan Cumming is like a breath of fresh air,” said another viewer. “What a lovely guy.”

The actor also talked about his role as host of the US version of The Traitors, which is returning for a second series. He said when he was coming up with how to play his part he "wanted to be like a James Bond villain".

He went on: "I said to them in the first meeting, 'So you want me to be like a James Bond villain, can I have my dog so I can pat her?' And they were like, 'Yes!'

"But she wasn't allowed to come the first time because of her jabs, but in this new series, my dog is in it with me."
