Alan Jackson dedicated the song "You’ll Always Be My Baby" to his three daughters in 2021
Country singer Alan Jackson and his wife, Denise Jackson, are the parents of three daughters: Mattie Denise Jackson, Alexandra Jane Jackson Bradshaw and Dani Grace Jackson.
Alan and Denise welcomed their first child, Mattie, in June 1990, then Alexandra three years later in August 1993. Their youngest, Dani, was born in August 1997.
"They're good kids, and they're smart, and they make good choices. My girls are very sweet; I'm very proud of all of them," Alan told The Boot in 2009.
The musician put his love for his daughters on display in 2021 when he released the song “You’ll Always Be My Baby." To commemorate the release, he also put out a lyric video featuring a montage of photos of his three kids.
Here's everything to know about Alan Jackson’s three daughters, Mattie, Alexandra and Dani.
Mattie Denise Jackson, 34
Alan and Denise's first daughter, Mattie, was born on June 19, 1990.
Mattie studied creative writing at the University of Tennessee. A few years after graduation, she married her late husband Ben Selecman, a former Assistant District Attorney, in October 2017. The two first met at a mutual friend's wedding and reconnected two years later.
"He asked me out and I said no, but he didn’t give up ... He pursued me until I finally saw the handsome, outgoing, Godly guy I needed," Mattie told Southern Bride.
However, just a few weeks shy of their first wedding anniversary, Selecman died after slipping and hitting his head while helping a woman on a boat dock in Jupiter, Florida.
"We were still in the honeymoon phase of our life," Mattie told PEOPLE in September 2021 of her late husband. "Ben had one of the biggest personalities of anybody I've ever known. He was joyful and cheerful, and he was friends with everyone."
In the process of her grief, Mattie wrote a book, Lemons on Friday, that documented her experience following Selecman’s death.
"There were so many times when I had no idea how to process anything," Mattie told PEOPLE. "I had no idea how to even speak to some of my closest friends and family about how I was feeling. I thought if God could use all of my questions and all of my tears and all of the stuff that I was grappling with now that my life was falling apart to make someone else feel like they were not alone, then it was time for me to start writing."
Mattie also founded NaSHEville, which sells apparel and "gives back to orphans, widows & trafficked women," per the brand's Instagram bio.
Additionally, Mattie hosts a podcast called She’s in the City and uses Instagram to post about her hobbies, like playing golf, drinking wine — she is a certified sommelier and previously owned a wine bar in Nashville called Salt & Vine — and spending time with her dog, Ryman.
The multi-hyphenate eventually found love again. In September 2022, Mattie announced her engagement to Connor Smith. Underneath a carousel of engagement photos posted on Instagram, Mattie wrote, “I love your playful spirit and your kind heart and your infectious-ness for life, Connor Smith. I cannot wait to be your wife and build a family with you! You are the biggest blessing in the dang cutest package. Love you baby."
The couple wed on May 12, 2023, with Mattie writing on Instagram a few days later, "Wooooo we did it!! Grateful is a gigantic understatement. More pretty pics to come later - off to the islands with my HUSBAND!"
Mattie and her husband welcomed their first child, son Wesley Alan Smith, on June 20, 2024. They named their baby boy in honor of Smith's grandfather and Alan.
Alexandra Jane Jackson Bradshaw, 30
Alan and Denise's second daughter, Alexandra (Ali) Jane, was born on Aug. 23, 1993.
She married her husband Sam Bradshaw on July 18, 2020. The two both grew up in Tennessee but met when they were a part of the same wedding party of a longtime friend, according to Inside Weddings. Her sisters, Mattie and Dani, served as bridesmaids.
“We wanted a unique, dynamic wedding that would incorporate both of our personalities and passions: Sam’s love for the outdoors and my appreciation for grand, refined aesthetics,” Ali shared with the wedding magazine. “We ended up with a perfect combination of the two – the ceremony taking place on an elevated stage over the fire pit with an organic yet elegant vibe, and the reception in a magnificent tent adorned in glam and couture details.”
When it was time to announce her pregnancy in July 2022, Ali's dad Alan shared the news on Instagram. “Our baby is having a baby. Denise and I can’t wait to meet our first grandson in December! - AJ #YoullAlwaysBeMyBaby,” he captioned the post.
Ali’s Instagram account is private, but her sister Mattie often shares photos of the sisters hanging out. Mattie shared a sweet birthday post for Ali in August 2022. “Cannot believe this is the last year of your 20s! A huge happy 29th to you @alijbradshaw," Mattie wrote in the caption. "You are as wonderful a friend as you are a sister, and I cannot wait to see you be an even better mom! Cheers (in December) to your best year yet,"
On Dec. 15, 2022, Alan once again shared exciting news on behalf of his daughter. "Denise and I are celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary with our new grandson Jackson Alvie Bradshaw," Alan wrote on X. "Ali and Sam welcomed Jack into the world on Dec 13, 2022. So happy that this little guy has made us grandparents! -AJ."
Ali also sings and joined her father onstage to sing his song “You’ll Always Be My Baby” in October 2021.
Dani Grace Jackson, 26
Alan and Denise's youngest daughter, Dani, was born on Aug. 28, 1997.
Dani's Instagram account is private like her sister Ali’s, but fans caught a glimpse of Alan's youngest in his early 2000s music video for his song Drive. Dani and her sisters appeared at the end of the video, driving around a field with their dad. She has also been featured on her sister Mattie’s Instagram account.
Mattie shared a 25th birthday tribute to Dani in 2022. “Happy 25th to my beautiful baby sister!! It is a joy with every passing year to watch you grow into the kind, generous, huge hearted woman you are. I love you so much @dani_gracej.”
The sisters have posted about getting together often for holidays, birthdays, family outings and drinks together. Mattie even shouted out her little sisters for being a part of her 2020 support system in a New Year's Eve Instagram post.
“In 2020, we’ve all needed a Crew. These people are mine. The two Sam’s have become brothers to me in the years after losing the man I loved most, and the other two, I’ve cherished since the days they were born. You truly cannot beat family! Praise God for these (and many other) permanent people in this life and the next,” Mattie wrote alongside a photo of her, Dani, Ali, Ali's husband Sam and another man.
