Yahoo News Alan Scarfe, “Lethal Weapon 3” and“ Double Impact” actor, dies at 77
The British Canadian performer also worked in theater and wrote fiction.
Alan Scarfe, the British Canadian actor who played heavies in the 1990s action films Lethal Weapon 3 and Double Impact, died of colon cancer on April 28 at his home in Longueuil, Quebec, according to a death notice. He was 77.
A representative for Scarfe confirmed the news to Entertainment Weekly.
Born in Harpenden, England, Scarfe emigrated to Canada with his family as his father pursued an academic career. He studied a the Lord Byng Secondary School in Vancouver and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, and began a lifelong career as a performer and director.
As an actor, Scarfe was known for playing internal affairs chief Herman Walters, who dogged Mel Gibson's Riggs and Danny Glover's Murtaugh in 1992's Lethal Weapon 3. The year before, he appeared opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme as murderous businessman Nigel Griffith in Double Impact, and he played Dr. Bradley Talmadge on the Canadian time-travel drama Seven Days opposite Jonathan LaPaglia from 1998 to 2001.

His other screen credits included Star Trek: The Next Generation, Kingdom Hospital, NYPD Blue, and Stargate: Atlantis.
On stage, Scarfe acted and directed across Europe, Canada, and the United States, with roles ranging from King Lear and Othello to Cyrano de Bergerac, Doctor Faustus, and Uncle Vanya. He worked as the artistic director at the Stratford Festival from 1976 to 1977 and Liverpool’s Everyman Theatre from 1967 to 1968. In addition to acting, Scarfe was an author who penned novels including The Revelation of Jack the Ripper.
Scarfe was married to Barbara March from 1979 until her death in 2019. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother Brian. Scarfe is survived by his daughter, Tosia Scarfe, and her husband, Austin; son Jonathan Scarfe; brother Colin; and grandchildren Kai and Hunter Scarfe.
