Aldi launches new wine that 'promises' not to give you a hangover

Supermarket giant Aldi has released a new wine that has never been seen on shelves before and which 'promises' not to give you a hangover.

The popularity of 'no and low' alcohol alternatives is surging. Fresh data shows a growing trend of people ditching booze, with one in three Gen Z-ers opting for sobriety.

Around a third of those aged 18-24 are completely abstaining from alcohol. However, those who do partake typically do so as a treat, to relax, or to mark a special occasion, according to Mintel data.

In response to this trend, Aldi has announced the introduction of a new wine that's never been seen on its shelves before. The budget retailer is expanding its alcohol selection with its first-ever 0% Pinot Grigio Blush.

Retailing at just £2.99, the 0% Pinot Grigio Blush offers customers all the 'refreshing flavours' of traditional rose, but without the alcohol content. This non-alcoholic option will hit the shelves from Monday, July 15.

Aldi's brand-new 0% Pinot Grigio Blush is pale pink in colour and features notes of 'sweet' strawberry, balanced with a dry finish. For those who favour a refreshing white, Aldi is also bringing back its popular 0% Chardonnay wine, also priced at £2.99.

With scents of white peach and vanilla, Aldi's non-alcoholic white delivers flavours of melon, pear drops and lemon bon bons. This addition comes as demand for Aldi's 'no and low' drinks range continues to rise, particularly its Zerozecco which has witnessed an impressive 20% sales increase year on year.

Julie Ashfield, the managing director of buying at Aldi UK, stated: "As shown by our sales, we are seeing an increasing number of shoppers coming into stores looking for new and exciting ways to enjoy lower or non-alcoholic drinks. Our new 0% Pinot Grigio Blush is just one example of how we are continuing to innovate our offering, so shoppers have versatility without compromising on the exceptional quality that Aldi is known for."
