Aldi has announced some bargain buys for wine lovers this bank holiday weekend. The budget supermarket revealed it will be slashing the price of its bestselling rosé to just a fiver.

Aldi’s Chassaux Et Fils Atlantique Rosé will be available for £4.99 until Sunday, May 5 - just in time for the bank holiday. Returning to shelves as part of the supermarket's Spring Summer range, the popular rosé was £6.99.

The wine sold out last year after it was hailed by wine experts. Lucy Hitchcock, also known as @Partnerinwine on social media, sent shoppers wild when she compared the wine to Whispering Angel.

But opting for Aldi's rosé will save wine lovers 79%, compared to the pricier alternative, which usually sells for around £20 in supermarkets. Aldi describes its Chassaux Et Fils Atlantique Rosé as 'elegant'.

It adds: "With aromas of strawberry and watermelon, and flavours of tangy raspberry and red cherry. Dry and fresh, this is an easy-drinking wine that is perfect for long evenings and is sure to wow guests at any bank holiday celebration."

Aldi has also announced further reductions on two other wines. The Pierre Jaurant French Merlot, which is usually priced at £5.99, will be reduced to £3.49 - saving over 41 per cent.

Joining the other wines is the Freeman’s Bay New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, which will set customers back just £4.99 until May 5. Aldi’s May bank holiday wine promotions will be available in stores and via Click and Collect until Sunday, May 5 - while stocks last.
