Aldi police probe after 'do not eat' alert over popular item
Aldi has issued an urgent "do not eat" warning to customers regarding a popular product, as a police investigation is underway.
The supermarket chain has recalled a specific batch of Village Bakery 8 Tortilla Wraps White due to concerns that they may have been tampered with and could potentially contain metal. This recall was announced to Aldi shoppers last month.
The affected products are those with the best before end date of 29th April, 2024. Aldi is advising anyone who has bought this item to refrain from eating it and instead return it to their local store for a full refund.

In-store warning notices have been displayed in Aldi branches that sell the implicated tortilla wraps, cautioning customers against consuming the product. The supermarket has confirmed that the recall is part of an "active police investigation", reports the Manchester Evening News.
Aldi's official statement said: "All our products go through rigorous safety and quality check. We are recalling this product as a precautionary measure. As there is an active police investigation we are not able to comment any further on this matter at this time."
