Aldi staff threatened with screwdriver in food and drink robbery

Staff at a Staffordshire supermarket were threatened with a screwdriver as a man and woman stole food and drink. The duo entered the Aldi store in Victoria Street in Hednesford, Cannock, at around 8.15pm on Wednesday (April 17).

The man is said to have menaced staff with the screwdriver as the two took the goods without paying for them. Now Staffordshire Police has issued an image of a man and woman, with a pushchair who they would like to speak to in connection with the robbery.

The man is described as being of ‘mixed heritage, in his 30s, of a slim build and was wearing a white jacket’. He was also wearing a black beanie hat and a patterned jacket underneath his coat.

The woman is said to have ‘blonde hair and was wearing glasses, a black jacket and a blue knitted hat. She also had a pushchair’. Officers would like to speak to the two pictured in connection with the robbery.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “We have released images of a man and a woman we would like to speak to following a theft from a shop in Cannock. At around 8.15pm on Wednesday (17 April), a man and a woman entered Aldi on Victoria Street in Hednesford and left with food and drink not paid for.

“The man also used a screwdriver to threaten staff at the shop. No one was injured.
