Alec Baldwin will have the full support of his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, during his criminal trial stemming from the 2021 fatal Rust shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

After Hilaria, 40, was seen present during the first day of the New Mexico trial on Wednesday, July 10 — along with Alec's siblings, Stephen Baldwin and Beth Keuchler — a source confirmed to PEOPLE that Hilaria "will be staying in New Mexico for the trial."

"Alec wants her there. She's incredibly supportive and will be at the trial every day. It's stressful for them both," the source says. "This is not how they want to spend their summer. They can't wait for it to be over. Hilaria has faith that Alec will be found not guilty."

Hilaria, who has been married to Alec, 66, since 2012, was also present at the courthouse during jury selection on Tuesday, July 9, with two of their children. Together, they have seven children. Alec also has a daughter with ex-wife Kim Basinger.

On Oct. 21, 2021, Hutchins was killed and Rust director Joel Souza was injured after a prop gun held by Alec on the Western film's set discharged. The movie star has insisted he did not pull the trigger or know why the prop gun contained live ammunition.

The actor has pleaded not guilty to one charge of involuntary manslaughter and faces up to 18 months in prison if convicted.

In April, Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed was sentenced to the maximum penalty of 18 months  in prison after being found guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

The following month, an insider told PEOPLE that Alec was "stressed" and "understandably worried" because of her sentencing.

"He has an excellent legal team. I don't think anyone is thinking jail time, but given the decision for Ms. Gutierrez-Reed it’s hard to know," the insider said.

During his opening statement on Wednesday, Alec's attorney, Alex Spiro, argued that Alec "committed no crime" and was operating on set as actors normally do on a movie set involving weapons.

"Not a day goes by when we don’t wish Alec had saved her life. But never, the witnesses will tell you, in history is [this] something that an actor has done — intercepted a live bullet from a prop gun. No actor in history," Spiro told the jury. "No one could have imagined or expected an actor to do that. So just remember that truth…. Justice is truth. This was an unspeakable tragedy."
